The resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the foundation stones of Christianity… It was the crowning proof that the ransom He paid for sinners as accepted, the atonement for sin accomplished, the head of him who had the power of death bruised, and the victory won.

Death is something that people do not often talk about. At times, it is like an elephant in a room, that once you ignore, it will not be a bother. However, death is also inevitable. Everyone will experience it, and it is part of life. On the other hand, destruction is different. Not all will experience destruction. Impenitent people are on the front line for eternal destruction. Nevertheless, it is not too late to be saved. And there is Only One Way to be saved.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Book of Hosea 13:14. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of Job 11:7-8: How Great Indeed Is Our God Almighty
Ransomed From Death And Destruction
In the last chapters of Hosea, the prophet emphasized how Israel was unfaithful and God faithful. Hosea pointed out the wickedness of the people of Ephraim and how God will judge them by death and destruction in the hands of their oppressors. Furthermore, in verse four, Hosea established that God is the Only God and saviour, besides Him, there is none (Hosea 13:4). While verse fourteen shows how God loves His people despite their continued disobedience.
But never did this mean that God will not execute justice. How then can we be justified on our wrongdoings? And Who has to ransom us from our sins?
Jesus Christ, The Ransom From Death To Sin
When Jesus said, even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). Jesus was speaking about Himself, that after His ministry, He will give up His life on the cross for all of us. Moreover, Paul pointed out the connection of the verse to the saving grace received only through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthian 15:55). Likewise, Paul indicated that Jesus had conquered death (1 Corinthians 15:24-26). Therefore, He is the Only One who can save us from death and destruction.
Let us call upon Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour and live our lives in obedience to Him. Accept Jesus Now.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.
- Are you afraid to die?
- How do you perceive death? Watch this.
- What is your perception of hell?
- Do you believe that hell is eternal destruction?
- Why do we need to be ransomed?
