When you align yourself with God’s purpose as described in the Scriptures, something happens to your life.
– Bono
Guess I have shared it with you all on the previous devotions that I thought I was a good person, a good friend, daughter, sister, and niece. But I was far from being correct. My steps are not at all aligned with what is good. Maybe some of you think I am a perfectionist. Moreover, you expect that my standards of good are different from yours. However, the criteria I am talking about are not mine but of God’s. Let us look into His word and learn what steps align with what is good.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Book of Pslam 37:23-24. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of Jeremiah 10:23: Is Self Superiority Your Master In This Life?
Your Steps’ Alignment To Scriptures
In Psalm 37:23, David mentioned, the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. This means that good men align themselves with the will of God. How? By heading to His words. Gauge yourself against the commandments of God. Answer them by yes or no and try not to rationalize. You will notice at the end of your reflection that you fail to do the commandments. These were my findings too on my contemplation.
Congratulations! You are now a step closer to Christ. Do not stop with the only acceptance that you are nothing but a sinner, like any man on earth. Proceed on asking the Holy Spirit to guide you in aligning your life with the scripture. Find a local church to help you in your steps.
Jesus’ Alignment With God’s Words
Verse 24 shows God’s love for His chosen people. The verse explains the life of a Christian. Non-believers think that Christians are proud and self-righteous. On the contrary, Christians’ step is not of pride of self, but we are proud of what Jesus Christ has done for the world. Christians’ righteousness is not achieved by their steps but by that of Christ.
Christians are so proud of Christ’s work that we try to walk in His steps in alignment with the Holy Spirit. Moreover, we want non-believers to feel the joy and hope we have in Jesus. Let us share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others. Be that good person who points to others that the source of your goodness is not yourself but Jesus.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.

Prayer
Almighty Father, who is all good and holy. Thank you for all the provisions you have given to us. For our senses and faculties, challenges and success. We acknowledge that we are sinners and that our accomplishments do not stand to your standards. But because you love us, you have granted us the righteousness of Jesus Christ our Savior. Grant us, through the Holy Spirit, to be always humble in everything we do.
We pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
