The Holy Spirit has consecrated us as temples of God. We, therefore, must let the glory of God shine through us, and we must not pollute ourselves with sin.
– John Calvin.
Can you guess what is the number one culprit of illnesses and diseases in this generation? Unfortunately, those who said that Covid-19 is the number one, are wrong. The answer is stress, whether it is physical, mental or emotional. Stress has been one major factor in the downfall of the human body.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Letter of Paul to the Romans 12:1. Please, read our recent devotional from the 1st Letter of Paul to Timothy 2:5: The Perfect Bridge Between The Father And You
Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit
People forget to take care of their bodies. We do not eat right, exercise enough or rest adequately. Moreover, we get caught up with the busyness of the world. Paul appeals to the Romans to offer their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Our body is a gift from God and is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We loan them while we are on earth. And when Jesus comes again, those who have followed Him will be rewarded with new bodies, one that does not decay.
Your body, your choice
My body, my choice. Is this familiar to you? This phrase is the chant of the pro-choice movement. How does it relate to keeping the body holy and acceptable to God? Well, for starters, these women shout their so-called right to decide for their bodies with a wrong motive. Abortion, fornication and the like are not an expression of how you take care of your body.
Moreover, they even cause more stress to themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually. The fetuses (Latin word for BABIES) are stripped off from their chance to have bodies that can be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Further, their rights to live are taken from them. All because of the wrong notion on how we take care of our bodies. Therefore, take care of your bodies, keep them holy and grounded in the Words of God. Likewise, remind each other to treasure the gift that God has given us.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.
- How do you take care of your body?
- What are the things you do to help others take care of their bodies?
- Do you consider your body as the temple of the Holy Spirit?
- Have you asked the Holy Spirit to dwell in you? Accept Jesus Now.
- Reflect on the verse and cite differences between the slogan my body my choice.

Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
