We became Christians by faith in Jesus, we stay Christians by faith in Jesus, and we grow as Christians by faith in Jesus.
– J.C. Ryle.
We often feel uncertain about things that are going on around us. Moreover, most of the time we seek the help of others. However, we forget to ask for guidance from the most important person who can help in any situations we are in, Jesus Christ the captain of our lives. And if He is not yet the Captain of your life, do not wait when it is too late. Accept Jesus Now.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Letter to Hebrews 2:10. Please, read our recent devotional from the Gospel according to John 8:10-11: You Are Not Condemned In Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is our Captain
In the King James Bible, we read for it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. This verse, then emphasizes that Jesus is the captain of our salvation. Moreover, Jesus saves us from our sins and from God’s wrath that is about to come.
The enemy, Satan and his demons would want us to think to live our lives now as best as we can for this are it, there is no hell or heaven. However, that is false. Our lives on earth are a journey, and how we live depends on where we go. Not that we need to do good works to go to heaven. Only if we put our faith in Jesus and how we work our salvation in fear trembling (Philippians 2:12).
You do not need to be saved?
Do you think that you do not need saving? Or that you are the captain of your life and do not need guidance? Let me be the one to say that you are very wrong. If you continue to think that you control your life, you are heading to the rocks.
Everyone needs a captain in life. Furthermore, we need someone to guide us to live a life that will bring us to eternal life. And we cannot do that by ourselves, my brothers and sisters. Likewise, Paul wrote this is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:3-4).
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.

Prayer
Father, as we recall the steadfast faith and hope in God that so many of the great cloud of witnesses displayed in Hebrews chapter eleven and elsewhere, we pray that we too may follow their example and place our entire faith in Your precious Word. May we develop an ever-deepening trust in You, knowing that Your Word is faithful and true. May we be nourished by the Word of God day by day. And be refreshed with rivers of living water that stream into our hearts from above, so that whatsoever we do will be pleasing to the Lord and glorify His name.
Thank You that in Christ, we have been forgiven of all our sins and delivered from the power of sin in our lives. May we pass on trust in the Lord Jesus to our children and children’s children, so that in the next generations a living trust in God may be their witness to the world and faith in His Word may be a testimony that will also pass on to all their children.
Keep us standing firm in the truth of God’s Word that has been delivered to us by our Father in heaven and keep us steadfast and true to all that we have learned of Your grace and mercy. May our lives demonstrate an ever-deepening love for You, until that glorious day when we are taken to be with You in heaven.
These we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
