There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Fear and Love
In one of the sermons in our church, the preacher was talking about love. In this day and age when hate is rampant. This is true not only with the non-believers, but hate has also crept within the church. We easily judge others that do not think the same as we do. You can justify yourselves now and say that I am wrong. But let me be the first to admit that I am most of the time like this. Am I proud of it? Of course not! That is why I always consciously and intentionally choose to place myself in their situation and rationalize what is wrong or different. And most of the time – when dealing with non-believers – the answer to my question is that they do not have the love of Christ. Is it easy? Not a bit, it is always a struggle between the old and new self.
Moreover, our pastor said, we have received the love and forgiveness of God. Therefore, our task is to extend it. Let us confuse the hateful world with the overflowing love granted to us by our Heavenly Father through His Son Jesus. May the light that is ignited by the Holy Spirit within us be a source of light for others to see Jesus.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, you showered us with the greatest love anyone can only imagine receiving, and that is the salvation we receive through Jesus Christ. May the love we receive from Christ be a source of our love to share to others. Grant us, Holy Spirit, to not be selfish in sharing the Salvific work of Christ on the cross to other people. O Lord, give us a courageous heart to share your Good News to others. In Your name we pray. Amen
