So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
Fear of Man
We fear a lot of things in the world. When one says he is not afraid of anything he or she is a fool. It is what we do with that fear that defines our character. I, for instance, fear the criticisms of others. Moreover, I am afraid of getting negative feedback from people. And I guess we all have this fear, it differs from how severe it is from person to person. In today’s verse, we read that the Lord is our helper, therefore we should not fear for what man can do to us? It is indeed true. What can a man do to us if we have the Lord on our side? What struck me the most is the first few words of the verse, it is written, we may boldly say. God is not a god of cowardice. The Spirit of God does not inflict faint-heartedness rather He gives us boldness and courage.
Let us not fear man nor the criticisms they can throw at us. Repent from your sins and submit your life in serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And be of good cheer and courage for our God is our helper. He will equip us with the things we need to combat our fear. Only fools think they are not afraid of anything.
Prayer
Almighty Father, we give honour to your holy name. We thank you for the Holy Spirit and for giving us boldness of heart to speak and stand for your truth. Grant us courage for every day, not to fear man but to direct them to you. We ask all these in Jesus’ name. Amen.
