As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Fear of Desperation
Do you feel fear when you are happy? When desperation comes to a point where you do not see any hope. This is what Jairus felt when someone from his household brought him news that his daughter is dead. I bet this is what we feel when we face the most severe problems in our lives. Desperation blinds us from other solutions or ways to see the problem. Let this verse, which was spoken by Jesus to Jairus, remind us to not fear but believe.
Believe not to any persons that can change one’s mind, nor to deities/idols that do not hear your prayers or desperate cries. But believe in Christ who saved us while we were sinners. Because when we do, we will have that eternal hope that no worldly problems can extinguish.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, the most holy One. We raise our desperate pleas to you. Hear us O Lord and show compassion on our sufferings. We praise your holy name for you have saved us from eternal damnation. Thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, who stood on our behalf and saved us, desperate sinners. O Holy Spirit guide and reprove us to be worthy servants of our Saviour Jesus Christ. In His name, we pray, Amen.
