Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Fear of Evil
The very first and I guess the only Psalm I memorize is Psalm 23. The Psalm depicts how Jesus is our Shepherd that leads us in the right path, away from the unrighteous who practice evil. Following Christ does not mean that it will always be rainbows and butterflies. Moreover, walking with Christ is not a walk in the park. Christians will be oppressed and persecuted by evil people, just like our brothers and sisters in the middle east and Asia (Please pray for them).
However, we are not called to fear the evil of this world. For our Shepherd is always with us giving us strength and comfort when we keep the faith, trust and give our loyalty to Him.
Prayer
Our Good Shepherd, we give honour to your holy name. Thank you for saving us and guiding us as we journey in this world. Do not leave our side. Please be with us always, especially when evil is lurking near us. Protect us, O Holy Spirit, from the works of the evil ones. Shine a light on our path and direct us. All these we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
