Get Bitter Or Get Better, It Is Really Up To You

Nothing paralyzes our lives like the attitude that things can never change. We need to remind ourselves that God can change things. Outlook determines outcome. If we see only the problems, we will be defeated; but if we see the possibilities in the problems, we can have victory.

Warren Wiersbe

There are all sorts of different situations coming our way every day. Some of them are good, and some of them are not at all.

Definitely, all of that situations make an influence in our lives. Every single one, either it is good or bad, deposits in our memory. They affect our mood, determine our behavior, and shape or even make a permanent change in our worldview.

Obviously, that all the positive things which comes our way, make a positive effect. Thus, generate and leave positive memories, elevates the mood, convict to positive attitudes and good deeds, and create an optimistic perception of the world.

In like manner, the negative things in our lives make its effect. The only difference that, that effect is negative. Therefore, it gives us an unpleasant experience, adds up more stress to our lives, demotivates and brings hopelessness, and creates pessimistic worldview.

All of the above-said is really good in theory. But, in reality everyone creates own perception of every given situation particularly and the view of the bigger picture in general.

According to their beliefs, every person look at a positive or negative sides in any circumstances. Basically, the way each individual sees the world depends on their own perception.

I think it is wrong to say, that the world shapes us. We are not a hostage of some situation. Ultimately, it is up to you if you will get bitter or better.

Scripture

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; // 2 Corinthians 10:5

Observation

After all, it all boils down to positive thinking over anxiety. Satan is the one who creates all the problems for us. He is a busybody, troublemaker, and a deceiver. The goal of the devil is to destabilize, disorient, and to lead you to the state of destruction. And one of his greatest tools is a wild, sick and harmful imagination called anxiety.

However, Satan‘s primary goal is to hurt God, not you. He is the one who exalts himself against God. Thus, when we fall into deception of the devil, we became like Satan, not directly of course. Instead of bringing all the negative thoughts into captivity, we adopt and then nourish devil’s doctrine.

In order to protect ourselves from Satan’s attacks, we have to submit to the obedience of Christ. Your best tool against frequent spiritual attacks is a prayer (Philippians 4:6-7). Also, you have to build a stronghold around yourself by reading (Psalm 119:105) and memorizing (Psalm 119:11) the Bible.

Finally, this is the fight for your mind. Who will gain control over it, you or Satan, it is really up to you. Because, God gave us all the weapons at our disposal. So that, in our battle for the mind control, we must use the mighty spiritual weapons in “the whole armour of God” (Ephesians 6:11).

Application

This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
  1. Does the world influence you?
  2. What shapes your worldview? Is it Bible or world’s doctrines?
  3. Do you accept any situation as a will of God?
  4. What is your weapons to fight against anxiety?
  5. Do you read and memorize God’s Word?
