The season of silence is the best preparation for speech with God.

– Samuel Chadwick

The three main vision of our online ministry is to learn the Word of God, teach others about it and serve the people around us following the command of Jesus Christ. Pavlo and I are also studying the living Word daily like you. It is ongoing learning for God’s word is active. You will gain something every time you read your Bible.

Of course, the best teacher to know God is through His word. And that is what we are trying to share with all who read our articles. We teach by pointing you to the Teacher. Knowledge of the Bible is lacking without putting it into action. Therefore, we serve each other to make the Words of God tangible.

Bible Reading

Today’s devotional reading is from the Book of Ezra 7:9-10. Please, read our recent devotional from the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians 1:14-19: Are You Wise Enough To Understand The Gospel?

Ezra’s Preparation

God had touched the king’s heart to allow the Israelites to go back to Jerusalem and build His Temple. Moreover, He had used Ezra to lead His people. This was the second group of Israelites to travel back to Jerusalem from Babylon. Ezra was considered an exemplary leader.

Before he assumed his role, he studied the Law of God, incorporated it into his life and teach it to others. He was able to accomplish this with the aid of God’s hand (Ezra 7:9). Further, he did not boss everybody around him. Moreover, he became a living example of how God expects them to act as His chosen people.

Another aspect that showed he was a true man of God was his dependency on God. Ezra did what he can do to lead the Israelites. Furthermore, he never disregarded the providence of God in their situations.

Your Preparation

People have so many distractions in today’s world. Gadgets are not the only source of interruptions one will have to overcome. Inconsequential issues and wrong prioritization also inhibit us from preparing ourselves for what is to come – Judgement Day. Every day that we can wake up is another chance given by God to us. It is another day for us to prepare for Him. And like Ezra, let us start preparing by studying the Word of God.

Reflection

This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
  1. Are you ready to face God?
  2. Do you believe that we need to prepare for Judgement Day?
  3. How do you prepare for Jesus’ second arrival?
  4. Have you repented from your sins? Accept Jesus Now.
  5. What does your Bible time look like? We want to know.

Prayer

God of heavens and earth, we glorify your name. We humbly ask for your forgiveness for our sins (mention your sins). O God, we thank you for your Son, Jesus Christ, who died for us. May each one of us repent from our sins and accept the gift of salvation you are freely giving us. O Holy Spirit, may you guide and reprove us. That way we will never depart from the teachings of Christ. Use us O Lord, to lead others to you. And may our words and actions be the tangible expression of your love to others.

We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Erwina Gagin

Born and raised in a catholic family, I learned about God at an early age. I also studied in catholic schools which means I get to study the catholic traditions, practices and saints (deities). I grew up knowing God, Jesus, Mary and the saints and praying or venerating them. At a young age, I would regularly attend mass, pray devotionals to different saints and pray the rosary, which I thought were essentials to show one’s love and honour to God. But often times, I would still feel empty and uncertain of what lies ahead. I started reading the bible when I started to date my husband, with the purpose to show him that I can defend catholic teachings. But the more I study the scriptures the more I have questions about what I thought I know about my faith. It was in the year 2016 at the age of 27, I was born again. I cannot cite the exact date of my conversion as it happened in subtle manner. I know Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, guides me in studying God’s word to know the truth about Him.
