Let us be alert to the season in which we are living. It is the season of the Blessed Hope, calling for us to cut our ties with the world and build ourselves on this One who will soon appear. He is our hope – a Blessed Hope enabling us to rise above our times and fix our gaze upon Him.
– A.W. Tozer.
Hope is what keeps us going every day. But who is your hope? Or where does your hope lies? For my husband and I hope in Jesus Christ. He is our Blessed Hope, He is constant and unchanging. Moreover, the Lord Jesus is true to His words and promises. And like other Christians, we wait when Jesus will appear again in all His glory.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Letter of Paul to Titus 2:13-14. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of 1st Samuel 3:17-18: How Do We Accept God’s Will?
The blessed hope in Christ
Paul reminded one of his sons in the faith about the blessed hope in Jesus Christ. In chapter 2, Paul mentioned training young men and women in his ministry to act according to the roles God has made for them (Titus 2:4-8). Furthermore, Paul also included how older men and women should act (Titus 2:1-3).
The given admonition was for everyone to do good works and accomplish their roles as members of the body of Christ as we wait for the return of the Saviour, the Blessed Hope.
Hold on to the blessed hope of Jesus
We all should then hold on to Jesus Christ, our blessed hope. People may start to think that what they have or what they will have in the future is their hope. But as the Bible reminds us constantly, everything in this world will pass away.
It is written, for in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience (Romans 8:24-25). Therefore, let us keep our hope in Christ, and while waiting for Him, spread His Gospel to all we meet.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.
- Who is your hope? Or where does your hope lies?
- Have you received the blessed hope in your life? Accept Jesus Now.
- Reflect on your actions as you wait for Jesus’ second coming?
- Are you fulfilling the role that was given to you?
- Have you shared the hope of Jesus Christ with others?

Prayer
Lord, I maintain my hope in You and I hold onto the assurance that what I am praying for is already accomplished in the name of Jesus. Your Word promises “no good thing does He withhold from those that walk uprightly” (Psalm84:11). I wait upon You for Your definition of the good thing, you will not withhold from me. As David prayed in Psalm 18:1: “I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
All these we pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
