Our Salvation Is In The Gospel Of Jesus Christ

We are not saved by obedience, for obedience is the result of our salvation. We are saved by faith because faith leads us to obey.

– Charles Spurgeon.

When I got saved, I cannot contain the happiness and gratitude within me. I shared Jesus and His Gospel with everyone who would listen and continued sharing through our online ministry. Moreover, I felt a strange calmness in my soul when I understood that salvation does not rely on one’s works. The fact that Jesus already paid our fines and is waiting for us to repent and believe in Him is our true hope.

Bible Reading

Today’s devotional reading is from the Book of Matthew 28:11-13. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of Matthew 27:4-5: Repentance: Do Not Wait Until It Is Too Late

Tampering Of The Salvation Reports From Gentiles

In verses 12 and 13, we can see tampering and falsifying evidence of the salvific work of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, the selfishness and lies of the high priest are shown in these passages. These gentiles’ testimony about the salvation in the risen Christ bears significant weight in sharing the Good News to the Israelites.

The high priests and elders knew that when this news reaches the people’s ears, they will lose their standing in society. Additionally, it is also apparent that the high priests who opted to cover the truth about Jesus’ resurrection have impenitent hearts. They know the Scriptures more than anyone, yet they disregard God’s word to save their social ranks.

Do Not Hide The Reason Of Your Salvation

Are you saved? Well, no one can say for certain, for it is only God who can surely save you by His grace through faith in Jesus Christ. However, God had left His words to give us assurance about His saving grace. Paul reminds us, wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12).

Our faith in Jesus Christ saves us from eternal damnation. For because of His obedience, we receive the saving grace of God. Therefore, let us share this Good News with others. Christ-followers are commissioned to spread His Gospel to the ends of the world (Mark 16:15). Do not let fear or worldly bribes hinder you from sharing the salvation we have in Christ.

Reflection

This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.
  1. Have you surrendered your life to Jesus? Accept Jesus Now.
  2. What is hindering you from following Christ?
  3. Do you know your salvation lies in Him?
  4. What do you know about the Gospel of Jesus?
  5. Do you have doubts if you are saved? You are not alone.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, we glorify you, Lord, for who you are! You are the perfect Creator, you are Redeemer and Sustainer, and you are our ultimate Judge. We thank You, Lord God, for the beauty of your creation and love what you berthed in into us. O Lord, Jesus, thank you for your perfect sacrifice and the work of the Holy Spirit in us. O, God, we give thanks for the work you have started in us and will bring to completion on the Day of Judgement. Grant us, Holy Spirit, help to work our salvation with fear and trembling.

These we pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen
