Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh
Fear of Sudden Disaster
Uncertainty of what will happen to our loved ones in Ukraine due to a sudden disaster – war – that was caused by evil in this world. I am sure that worry and fear are in the hearts of the Ukrainian people, both in and out of the country. Where do we get hope in this time? Let us look no further, but in the Scriptures. Today’s fear not verse, reminds us not to be afraid. In verse 26 we are clearly answered, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught (ESV). The wisdom we get from our Lord, Jesus Christ, through His words will make us walk on our way securely, and our foot will not stumble (v. 23 ESV).
Therefore, despite the sudden disaster happening around us, let us not fear. Let us turn to God, repent from our sins and ask Jesus to be our Saviour and Shield from the works of the evil ones.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, our strong rock. We come before you with our feeble and frightened hearts. O Lord, grant protection to our loved ones and the people in Ukraine. May your believers in the country be not faint hearted and use them to minister to others, especially to those who do not know you. Give them courage, Lord, to speak the eternal hope we can find in our Saviour, Jesus Christ. And that despite of this sudden disaster in their lives, they will be comforted knowing that we can trust in your saving grace. We pray these in Jesus’ name. Amen.
