To those who have faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.
– Thomas Aquinas.
The notion of faith is always attached to the religious worldview. Although people use faith in almost everything in their lives. The main difference is the subject of one’s faith. Wives have faith in their husbands and vice versa. Children have faith in their parents. Evolutionists have faith in the Theory of the species. And Christians have faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Letter of Paul to Titus 2:10. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of 2nd Kings 6:16: Choose Between Fearing God Or The World
Faith in Jesus Christ
In verse 10, good faith meant loyalty. Paul emphasized the supreme purpose of a virtuous life is to make attractive the teaching that God saves sinners (The MacArthur Study Bible). Furthermore, He saves those who place their faith in His Only Begotten Son. For without our faith in Jesus, we do not receive God’s saving grace. James Hudson has said, you do not need a great faith, but faith in a great God. And our Saviour Jesus Christ is the great God, so put your faith in Him.
Faith in our capabilities
Our heavenly Father has given us all that we have, including our capabilities and faculties. However, we often think that we have these skills innately. We forget that they are bestowed to us to use for the furtherance of God’s kingdom.
James, the half brother of Jesus, wrote for as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead (James 2:26). Further, faith and works always come together. But faith precedes work. The good works we do by our capabilities are the result of our faith in Jesus Christ. Our capabilities will never bring us to the Heavenly Father.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we praise Your holy Name and thank You for Who You are. We thank You, Lord, for the revelation of Your Word to us. Grant us, Holy Spirit, guidance and teach us wisdom, understanding and fear of our Lord God. We pray, Lord, that by Your grace, You will give us a strong faith. So we can bring glory to Your Kingdom. We pray that by faith the light that shines in us will empower this world to have hope in what is yet unseen.
All these, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. Amen
