We are not seeing terrible things in our culture because we vote the wrong way. We are seeing terrible things in our culture because men love darkness rather than light.
– Voddie Baucham.
I do not know about you, but I am seeing terrible segregation between humans. White versus Black versus Asian. Liberal versus Conservative versus Republican. These are only a few categories that people try to classify themselves. It is heartbreaking to see that we forget, or more accurately, neglect the most important group we should be in. And that is in communion with the Triune God. In this Lenten week, we are reminded of that opportunity to be united with our Heavenly Father through His Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Book of Matthew 25:32-33. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of John 12:27: The Humility Of Jesus Christ Despite The Troubled Soul
The Terrible Segregation In The Future
Jesus talked about the terrible segregation in the future, this was recorded by Matthew when he wrote, before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Moreover, that is the only segregation I look forward to with both hope and trembling.
Additionally, Matthew recorded, I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak (Matthew 12:36). We all will face Christ Jesus on the day of Judgement. Whether you are a believer or not, this event is to happen. And we must be prepared for it. Learn from the ants (Proverbs 6:6-8).
What You Can Do Before The Terrible Segregation
What should we do then, before the terrible segregation? I think you have heard it from almost all genuine Christians. If you were paying attention. Repent, turn away from your sinful ways and place your faith in Jesus Christ. This is part of what Jesus told His disciples to spread throughout the world. Likewise, reflect on the Good News of Christ and compare it to other religious believes and you will find one thing.
Jesus Christ has sacrificed His life and took on the wrath of God on the cross. Furthermore, we do not need to earn good deeds to be with the Father in heaven, all was done by Jesus. Moreover, He has sealed it with His precious blood. However, the only task we have to do is acknowledge our sinful nature, repent from our sins, believe in Jesus Christ and continuously walk with the Holy Spirit. Accept Jesus Now.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.
- What is your take on the segregation you see around you?
- Where do you see yourself among all these society labels?
- How do we reconcile the fact that we are all equal in the eyes of God?
- Do you consider yourself high than other people?
- Are you prepared to meet Jesus on His throne?
- Know what is your greatest sin.
