How could I bear a crown of gold when the Lord bears a crown of thorns? and bears it for me!
– Elizabeth of Hungary.
One of the many topics I read about, is the British monarchy. I find it interesting how one family can rule a country for years and how they are related to other powerful men and women around the world. Moreover, I find it fascinating how they do fundraising when one of their jewelry, when sold, can feed an entire city or even a country. For instance, the coronation crown. Do you know how much it costs? $4,519,719! But this crown fades, gets stolen and does not last forever. Let us look deeper into the unfading crown of glory that we can all receive through Jesus Christ.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the 1st Letter of Peter 5:4. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of Psalm 73:26: Jesus Never Fails
Jesus’ crown of glory
In verse 4, we see how Peter described Jesus as the Chief Shepherd and how we will receive the unfading crown of glory when He comes back. James reminds us that Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him (James 1:12). For Jesus Christ has to wear a crown of thorns and be crucified to bring about the saving grace of the Father. Furthermore, the crown of thorns was first placed in Jesus’ head, so we can receive the unfading crown of glory that He received when He resurrected.
Have you received His unfading crown of glory?
William Penn once said, No pain, no palm, no thorns, no throne, no gall, no glory, no cross, no crown. Remind yourself of this each day and be thankful for the saving love of Jesus on the cross. If you do not believe and have not received Jesus, what are you waiting for? You will never receive the unfading crown of glory unless through Him. For He alone saves – Accept Jesus Now.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.
- Have you received Jesus Christ’s offer of eternal life?
- What are you doing to work out your salvation?
- How do you share Jesus with others?
- Why do you think people are refusing to believe in the Savior?
- What is your reflection on today’s scriptural verse?

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we glorify You Lord for who You are! You are the perfect Creator, You are Redeemer and Sustainer, You are our ultimate Judge. We thank You, Lord God, for the beauty of Your creation, and love what you berthed in into us. We thank You, Lord Jesus, for your perfect sacrifices, and for the work of the Holy Spirit in us. We thank You, Lord God, for the confidence that we have in the work that you have started in us, and will bring to completion on the Day of Judgement. We pray that the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ will help us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in us.
These we pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen
