If you want God to bless your relationship, honour God through your relationship.
– Miles McPherson.
Are you married or in a relationship? can you recall your emotions in the first years? Compare that to what you feel now? I bet there are, if not some, a lot of differences. Hence, relationships not grounded on a solid foundation will sway, and they will crumble eventually if not taken care of properly.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Book of Jeremiah 2:2. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of Nehemiah 5:19: How Do You Want God To See You?
Devotion On Your Relationship With Your Spouses
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh (Genesis 2:24). This verse is the foundational core of marriage, to be as one. The feeling of the early years of marriage or romantic relationship is always pleasant. Moreover, everything is all butterflies and rainbows. But, that is not what had happened to my husband and me. Yes, we were in love. And yes, we had romantic dates. However, we never had the peace, understanding and devotion we have for each other until we made Jesus the center of our relationship.
My devotion to Pavlo is not only because I trust and love him. But because I know he loves Jesus and is devoted to Him and His teachings. We are far from perfect, and we both know that. Nevertheless, we also know, every day we are striving to be devoted to Jesus and with each other. That alone makes a lot of difference in the foundation of our relationship.

Devotion On Your Relationship With God
God instructed Jeremiah to send a message to the Israelites to reevaluate the foundation of their relationship with God. Jeremiah reminds the Israelites, how they were devoted to God while they were in the wilderness. That despite their grumblings and complaints God’s devotion to them was evident. Furthermore, God patiently disciplined them and provided everything that they need. Israel is compared to a bride in love. They had followed and obeyed God in the desert. Until they have reached the promised land, that they went whoring to other gods. And the relationship they had with God crumbled.
Is this what is happening to your relationship with Christ? Let us adhere to Jesus and make Him as our foundation to all relationships we make with our fellow. Likewise, we have to bring others closer to Him that way they will know the saving grace of Christ.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.

Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven. Holy is Your name and You alone are our God and Lord. We confess our sins of idolatry to You. Moreover, we ask for Your forgiveness when we focus too much on (name your idols) and not on You and what You have done for us.
Thank You Lord for Your provisions and blessing even though we do not deserve it. Especially for Your Son, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to redeem us from our sins and rose from the dead to give us eternal life. Also, we thank You for the Holy Spirit, who is guiding us always towards You.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
