Denying the existence of Jesus does not make him go away.
– Lee Strobel – Author of The Case for Christ
I like history even though I am not well versed in all world’s history. Additionally, the information amazes me, especially when a historian has to do a lot of research to know the credibility of the topic. As a result, when I read the Bible I look into the OT. Moreover, I link what I read with that of what secular history tells about that time-period.
Bible Reading
Today’s devotional reading is from the Book of Acts 1:3. Please, read our recent devotional from the Book of Judges 2:19-23: How Does God’s Wrath Differ From His Discipline
Proofs Are There
Jesus Christ is a historical figure. However, it is devastating to see how secular historians categorize Him as a myth or legend. Despite the vast numbers of manuscripts that were written about Him, His life and ministry.
When Jesus resurrected, He made sure He left evidence for the apostles and disciples. Furthermore, He had done this in order for them to have confidence in the message He gave them. Moreover, we are to spread this message to the ends of the world.
Some of the validations of Jesus’ resurrection were the following:
- Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene (John 20:11-18)
- Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35)
- Entering a locked room (John 20:19)
- Manifesting wounds to Thomas (Luke 24:39)
- Ate and drank with the apostles (Luke 24:41-43)
- Ascension on Mt. Olives (Acts 1:6-11)
People Are Blinded By Sin
Sin is our great barrier in creating a meaningful relationship with our Lord. As it is written, But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:2).
Let us not forget the primary purpose of why Jesus came down from heaven. It is not for Him to be our friend or buddy. Rather, the Father sent Him to save us from destruction brought about by our sins. Therefore, if we do not acknowledge that very essence, we are doomed.
Reflection
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
- What are your thoughts about the proofs of Jesus’ life?
- Do you rely on information from the media about Jesus’ existence?
- Have you studied His life?
- Do you believe Jesus is real? Accept Jesus Now.
- Are you blinded by your sins?
- Have you confessed and repented from them?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, we exalt your holy name. We thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lived a real human life and became a ransom for us from the bondage of sin. O Holy Spirit, we ask for your light to give us enlightenment on our wicked ways. That we may be able to confess them and turn away from them. May the Lord, Jesus Christ, be with us as we walk in the path He has set for us that leads to the Father.
We ask these in the saving name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
