The biggest frustration that I may have in my life is not being able to do something useful and good or suddenly realizing that the work what I have done was nothing, but waste of my time and efforts. I believe, that is because we are created in the image of God. We are His masterpiece, the fruits of love within the Godhead. We are God’s workmanship and were created for His glory (Isaiah 43:7), we were formed to declare His praise (Isaiah 43:21).
God created the heaven and the earth and all that is in there in six days. And not a single moment of those days were wasted, and it was good. And even when Adam and Eve out of disobedience to God corrupted His perfect creation, the abundance of God’s love and mercy prevailed men’s impotence and inability to restore the masterpiece of God’s creation. Jesus Christ, the living word of God, through whom and by whom the universe was created, redeemed us from the bondage of vain labor.
Scripture
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: -- Philippians 1:6 KJV
Observation
The Henry Morris Study Bible comments on that verse as following: “It is neither our responsibility nor within our capability to maintain ourselves in a state of salvation. God began this work in us (Philippians 2:8) and He will ensure that it continues“.
God created Adam and Eve with a purpose. He give them certain responsibilities and empowered them to maintain the Garden of Eden. But the Garden of Eden is not the result of man’s work. It was commenced, perfected and finished by God. We too, as the Garden of Eden, are redeemed by our Lord Jesus. We are new creation now, with regenerated heart and reformed mind. We are being molded and perfected by the Holy Spirit, and one day will stand before the Thone of God to be finished.
No labor in the Garde of Eden is in vain. Therefore, we cannot be frustrated while maintaining and working out the perfect salvation what was made by our Lord Jesus Christ, but “being confident of this very thing“, that God will make it complete.
Application
This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV
- Have you ever had a feeling that your labor was in vain?
- What was your reaction?
- What made you think that you worked for nothing?
- How are you working out your salvation?
- Are you measuring yourself with worldly standards or with the standards of God?
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we glorify You Lord for who You are! You are perfect Creator, You are Redeemer and Sustainer, You are our ultimate Judge. We thank You, Lord God for the beauty of Your creation, and love what your berthed in into us. We thank You, Lord Jesus for your perfect sacrifices, and for the work of the Holy Spirit in us. We thank You Lord God, for the confidence what we have in the work what you have started in us, and will bring to completion on the Day of Judgement. We pray that the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ will help us to work out our salivation with fear and trembling, for it is God which works in us.
These we pray in Jesus mighty name. Amen
