The Perfect Bridge Between The Father And You

There cannot be any point of contact between absolute deity and fallen humanity except through Jesus Christ, the appointed Mediator. That is God’s door: all else is a wall of fire. You can by Christ approach the Lord, but this is the sole bridge across the gulf.

– Charles Spurgeon.

Several religious movements show the different bridges of how we can reach heaven, or God or nirvana. They say we can attain nirvana or enlightenment by meditation. Moreover, to reach heaven, we have to do good works, corporal works of mercy and live according to doing good to get good karma. And to reach God, some teach to pray to several deities or look into yourselves for you are little gods. A difficult task isn’t it? However, Christianity, for 2000 years teaches one thing. And that is only through Jesus can we approach the Father. He is our perfect bridge.

Bible Reading

Today’s devotional reading is from the 1st Letter of Paul to Timothy 2:5. Please, read our recent devotional from the 1st Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians 4:9: The Love That Jesus Taught Us

Jesus is our perfect bridge to the Father

Jesus is the perfect bridge to our heavenly Father. At the start of chapter 2, Paul urged Timothy to pray for all people, for this is pleasing to God that all will come to know the Saviour and be saved. Furthermore, the verse emphasized that there is only one true God. Therefore, there is only one mediator between Him and men.

The Scriptures explain to us that about how Jesus bridges the gap between the fallen men and women and the Holy Father. Not only was it stated in the New Testament how Jesus intervenes for us, but it also can be found in the Old Testament. It is written I am the Lord; that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols (Isaiah 42:8).

Be a small bridge for others and lead them to Christ

Everyone is asked to follow Jesus Christ’s ways. And with that said, we as His followers should be like small bridges to help others come to the Perfect Bridge who is Jesus Christ. Jesus, Himself, instructed His disciples to do such when He said, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20).

Let us minister to others and point them to The Bridge that connects them to the Father in Heaven. All believers are commanded to go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation (Mark 16:15). Do not hesitate to obey this directive.

Reflection

This is the time for your journaling. Reflect on these questions. Ask the Holy Spirit to test your faith and your walk with Christ.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? — 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV.
  1. How do you reach heaven?
  2. What connects you with God?
  3. Do you rely on your good works for your salvation?
  4. Have you accepted Jesus as your perfect bridge to the Father? Accept Jesus Now.
  5. What is hindering you from doing such?
  6. Read more on how we can lead others to Jesus.

Prayer

Almighty Father, we praise your holy name. We reverently as for your forgiveness of our sins (mention your sins). O Lord, Jesus Christ, thank you that you bore our punishment and provided an opportunity for us to be united with the Father. Thank you that you have sent the Holy Spirit to guide us as we wait for the day that you will come to judge both the living and the dead. May we never be far from you and continue to guide us in our walk with you.

We pray in Your mighty name. Amen.

Erwina Gagin

Born and raised in a catholic family, I learned about God at an early age. I also studied in catholic schools which means I get to study the catholic traditions, practices and saints (deities). I grew up knowing God, Jesus, Mary and the saints and praying or venerating them. At a young age, I would regularly attend mass, pray devotionals to different saints and pray the rosary, which I thought were essentials to show one’s love and honour to God. But often times, I would still feel empty and uncertain of what lies ahead. I started reading the bible when I started to date my husband, with the purpose to show him that I can defend catholic teachings. But the more I study the scriptures the more I have questions about what I thought I know about my faith. It was in the year 2016 at the age of 27, I was born again. I cannot cite the exact date of my conversion as it happened in subtle manner. I know Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, guides me in studying God’s word to know the truth about Him.
